MADISON -- Good news for beer lovers: A new UW Health study suggests beer has health benefits.
The hops used to brew beer can combat inflammation and the silicon in beer can increase bone density, according to Alicia Bosscher, a dietitian with UW Health.
The alcohol content can also have a positive impact on heart health. However, there's one key piece of information: drink in moderation.
"Very crucial," said Bosscher. "All of the studies that are saying, here's a benefit, here's a benefit, here's a benefit - that word moderate, moderate consumption is there."
So what does moderation look like? Experts say no more than two drinks a day for men, or one for women.
