The mother of a Milwaukee girl who went missing 14 years ago believes an Ohio woman is her daughter, despite DNA results that say otherwise.
Ayanna Patterson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that she does not believe the DNA test.
"No matter what the test says, I still believe one billion percent you are my child," Patterson told the newspaper Thursday.
Patterson said the Ohio woman has the same mole, birthmark and other facial features that her daughter had.
Alexis Patterson went missing in 2002 while walking roughly one block from her home to school near 49th and Garfield. She was just 7 years old.
Last week, police said they were investigating whether a woman now living in Ohio was the missing girl, after a tip from that woman’s ex-husband.
Milwaukee Police said the investigation into Patterson’s disappearance continues.
