Missing Door County teen Louis Amelinckx found in Chicago

UPDATE 3/17 7:53 a.m. -- Louis Amelinckx has been found safe in Chicago, Sturgeon Bay Police say.

Amelinckx was found around 12:50 a.m. Friday. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and is currently with his mother, according to police.

Police tell WGBA-TV in Green Bay they want to thank everyone for their combined efforts in finding Louis.

A missing Sturgeon Bay teenager could be in danger and is thought to be headed towards Milwaukee, Sturgeon Bay Police said Wednesday.

Louis Amelinckx, 17, left his home around 2:00 a.m. Monday and went to an apartment in Green Bay with two men he met on a smartphone app, according to police.

He has black hair, brown eyes, is 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs 120 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket and red sneakers, police said. He may now be wearing different clothing and shoes.

Police believe he could with the two men heading to Milwaukee, based on following pings from his cell phone.

Police were initially texting Amelinckx on his cell phone, and he told them he was in a dangerous situation, Sturgeon Bay Police said. However, he then texted officers that it was a false alarm. 

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department is working with the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
