The Kohl's department store at Southridge Mall may be relocating to the new 84South development in Greenfield.
This relocation wouldn't happen until late 2018, but some shoppers are sad to see the store at Southridge go.
"I was real surprised, had no clue, I don't know what the mall is going to do, they're really hurting right now," said shopper Eileen Pena.
Kohl's says relocating is a part of the CEO's plan to move bigger stores across the country intro smaller shops. The new one-story store will be 55,000 square feet, much smaller than the current two-level, 85,000-square foot store at the mall.
Mary Golden says it's tough for malls like Southridge to keep their staple stores because times are changing when it comes to shopping.
"I feel bad for the community because I'm a Greendale resident and it does bring income into our community, I think it's a tough economic time right now with people shopping more online so some of the big stores are not making the profit that they would like to make," said Golden.
But that still won't stop Golden from shopping and supporting the new Kohl's store, even if she has to travel a little further.
"I will still shop at Kohl's because it's a Wisconsin company and I like their products," said Golden.
All Kohl's employees have been offered comparable positions at the relocated new store or at other neighbor stores.
The Southridge mall location will remain open until the grand opening of the new location in 2018.
