MILWAUKEE -- It's official. Wisconsin's first Shake Shack restaurant will open in Milwaukee's Third Ward sometime in 2017, TODAY'S TMJ4 partner the Milwaukee Business Journal reported Thursday.
In a news release Thursday, the popular East Coast burger joint confirmed rumors that it would be opening a location at 220 E. Buffalo St. in Milwaukee's Third Ward. The restaurant will open "in late 2017," according to the Business Journal.
The fast-casual eatery will include all of Shake Shacks signature items, including the "ShackBurger," frozen custard, and crinkle-cut french fries.
The news comes about a month after the company let slip on its corporate web site that it was hiring for a Milwaukee location. Now we know the state's first Shake Shack is a reality.
The restaurant is known for its long lines, and is often mentioned in the same sentence as other cult-worthy burgers like In-and-Out.
Shake Shack first opened in New York City in 2004
