House explodes in Madison, minor injuries reported

Madison firefighters were called to the scene of a house explosion Wednesday.

The home on the city's southwest side is a total loss.  According to a Madison fire officials, firefighters are in search and rescue mode. They have not located the home owners as of 4:00 p.m. so they are not sure if anyone was in the house. Two people including a firefighter suffered minor injuries.

Two homes in the area were damaged as a result of the blast. Natural gas to the area has been shut off. Police and the Madison building inspector have joined the investigation.
