Dozens of vehicles on Milwaukee's East side, Third Ward and downtown have been broken into in the last few weeks and six have been stolen and the thieves appear to be looking for one thing in the glovebox.

Milwaukee police put out an alert to drivers of Audi's, warning them to remove the valet key that may be stored in the glove box.

In recent weeks local auto glass shops have been flooded with owners of the German cars looking to replace front passenger windows. It appears the crooks are breaking in through that window and looking through the glovebox for the key.

Patrick Gurasci had his Audi A4 broken into.

"If I had known I would have put a sign on my window that says there is no valet key in my car so please don't break my window," he said.

Each window costs the owners about $400. One shop has had to back order the windows from the West Coast. Milwaukee police have increased patrols in the area.
