The bitter battle for the Republican presidential nomination has devolved into a war of words about the candidates' wives.
Heidi Cruz responded to Donald Trump's Tuesday tweet threatening to "spill the beans" about her.
"Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!" the tweet read.

"You probably know by now that most of the things that Donald Trump says have no basis in reality," Heidi Cruz said Wednesday from Waukesha, where she's campaigning for her husband in preparation for next month's Wisconsin primary.
Heidi Cruz said the issue Trump is upset about "didn't come from our campaign," referring to a super PAC responsible for running the ad that sparked Trump's reaction.
She dodged additional questions about the issue, saying the was trying to keep the focus on the campaign, although she did appear to take a side jab at Trump by saying her husband is prepared, while "others cram before every debate."
Ted Cruz didn't let his wife fight all of his battles for him. The candidate tweeted, "Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you're more of a coward than I thought."
