MADISON — Gov. Scott Walker plans to propose a sales tax holiday for back-to-school purchases next year.
Walker scheduled news conferences in Green Bay and Milwaukee on Wednesday to announce the proposal that will be a part of his budget next year.
Republicans who control the State Assembly also planned to unveil their legislative agenda on Wednesday which was expected to also include a sales tax holiday.
Republicans proposed a $13 million sales tax holiday last session but it failed to pass.
That measure would have waived the 5 percent state sales tax on clothing items under $75, computers under $2,000 and school supplies costing less than $75.
Walker and Assembly Republicans were expected to release details of their plans Wednesday.
