Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is officially in the race.

Walker's office issued a statement Thursday that the sitting governor will run in the 2018 election.

“Our bold reforms have delivered results for Wisconsin’s hard-working families, from lower taxes to record investment in our classrooms – but there’s more to be done. I’m ready to continue the fight and keep Wisconsin moving forward,” Walker said in a statement.

The official kickoff event will be held on Nov. 5 at Eldall Manufacturing, Inc. in Waukesha, followed by a dozen additional events across the state that week, according to the campaign.

Walker released a new online campaign video Wednesday that touts his record but says more needs to be done.

Eight Democrats have said they are running to take him on, while several others are considering getting it the race.
