Father, son set to graduate from MATC together

Posted
MILWAUKEE -- Anderson Randolph and his son share more than just the same name. On Friday, the two will share the stage at Milwaukee Area Technical College's graduation.

For father, the opportunity to go back to school came after his banking position was downsized. For son, it was the chance of going into business with his dad that lead the pair to MATC's funeral directors degree program.

Throughout the program, the two have had a "friendly" rivalry.

The applied science degree not only requires students to learn microbiology and business management but also how to counsel grieving families. MATC is the only school in the state that offers this unique degree.

Program director Julian Jasper finds the support the Randolph's have given one another key to their success in the classroom.

"MATC prides itself on student success and in order for a student to be successful it is cases like this," he said.

The father and son said they are looking forward to the day they will run their own funeral home.
