A local girl had a devastating birthday party after nobody showed up. However, her mother helped her turn that negative experience into a positive one.
Jayda Rosado's mother Mallory Demmith posted a video to Facebook the other day. In it, Jayda said "thank you everyone," after getting hundreds of birthday wishes.
But, the birthday wishes came a bit late. Jayda's birthday party was Sunday.
"I was expecting at least 15 people to come," said Demmith. "Nobody showed up."
Jayda said it made her sad, breaking her mother's heart. She took to Facebook the day after.
"I had posted to the Milwaukee Southsider to just take a couple seconds out of their day to post happy birthday and help make her feel better," Demmith said.
The response was overwhelming. "I didn't think that there was going to be so many people coming together for a little girl that they had no connection to, no relation to," he said.
They people asked for a redo, so they could turn out. Jayda wants people to donate to local organizations, rather than giving gifts.
"That would make me very happy that I made the world a better place," she said.
Jayda had a beyond-her-years bit of insight.
"People are nice. Like God, friendship and some people that are bad maybe should have, like, respect to other people in this world," she told TODAY'S TMJ4.
