MILWAUKEE -- Parents at Atlas Preparatory Academy in Milwaukee are sickened to learn a teacher was just arrested for sexually assaulting a fifth grader.

Twenty-four-year-old Katherine Gonzalez was charged with first degree sexual assault of a child.

Court records show she took her fifth grade student to her apartment in Feb. 25th as a reward for playing well on an athletic team.

As they watched a movie she touched him inappropriately and then sent him graphic text messages.

"I just recently went on a field trip with them and she was at the field trip and she was at all their basketball games and everything and to think of something like that happening? I was really-I'm scared, I'm scared because I have my five kids and I would never want something like that to happen to them," said Wendi Garcia, a parent of students at the school.

Leaders with Atlas sent TODAY'S TMJ4 a statement which reads in part, "We are deeply saddened and shocked by this situation."
