Caught on camera: Thief steals packages from Milwaukee east side home

A thief was caught on camera swiping packages from an east side home. It happened this week just four days after Kenny Butler installed a security camera.

"When I first saw the video I was angry," Butler said. "I was like who is this guy?"

He was shocked when he discovered a crook swiping two packages from his unlocked front porch.

"You know I think he was following the FedEx Truck," said Butler. "I think criminals are now doing that, following delivery trucks and then they see the packages delivered  and steal them. Mine were stolen a minute after they were dropped off at the front door."
The video shows a guy walking and nervously looking around. He's wearing a black hat, black hoodie and red pants. The video is stunningly clear. Police say this happens every year.

According to Insurancequotes.com, more than 20 million people had packages stolen from their homes in 2015.

There are steps you can take to avoid being an easy target
  • Request a signature
  • Set up email and phone alerts to let you know when the package has been dropped off
  • Have your package dropped off at work

Kenny's not angry anymore. In fact,  he's chuckling about what the crook got away with - shrimp and steak.

Milwaukee Police have the video and are investigating the robbery.
