South Shore Fire Department was notified of a fire at the Burger King on Highway 20 at East Frontage Road in Mount Pleasant around 3 p.m. The fire was found to be contained to the car and not the building.
The fire has been ruled accidental as the driver was driving down East Frontage Road and heard a noise, saw smoke and pulled into the Burger King parking lot. As the driver pulled in, the brakes stopped functioning and the driver jumped out of the car.
