BROWN DEER -- One day after Brown Deer Police stopped 2 pit bulls from attacking 2 teen girls near Dean Rd. and 48th St., police confirm the attack was caught on dash cam video.
"Once the dash cam video is released, you'll see the dogs attacking the girls and that's what the officer saw when he arrived," said Sgt. Lucas Kuehne.
The attack happened Thursday afternoon. An officer rushed to help the girls, but that's when police say the dash cam video shows the dog charged toward the officer.
"The officer unfortunately had to dispatch one of the dogs using his firearm. The other then attacked the officer so he had to dispatch that dog," said Kuehne. "I believe the officer's instincts took over and he saved these girls from further injury."
Both dogs were adult pit bulls, and lived in the home with one of the victims. One dog was killed at the scene. The other was turned over to animal control to be euthanized.
Brown Deer's ordinance about vicious dogs states the dog must be confined if it is considered a vicious dog. Milwaukee's animal control says it does not have any record on either dogs attacking prior to this incident.
Brown Deer police are not sure if the dog's owner will face any charges.
