MILWAUKEE -- Two area malls both announced Wednesday that they would be closed on Thanksgiving.
CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., which owns Brookfield Square, said in its announcement they are focused on holiday traditions:
“We want to bring back the excitement of Black Friday shopping as the true start of the holiday shopping season and allow our employees, retailers, and shoppers to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families,” said Stephen Lebovitz, President and CEO, CBL & Associates Properties, Inc.
"Department stores, movie theaters, restaurants, and retailers with exterior mall entrances will have the option to open their stores on Thursday," the news release reads. Common areas will be restricted until 6:00 a.m. Friday.
Bayshore Town Center, another popular shopping center in the area, will also be closed on Turkey Day. A calendar posted on the mall's website lists it as re-opening at 7:00 a.m. on Black Friday.
