Body recovered from rubble of exploded Madison house

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Fire officials say a body has been recovered from the rubble of a Madison house that exploded earlier this week.

Fire Chief Steven Davis said Friday the body was found about 9 a.m. Firefighters had been searching the debris of the house that exploded and caught fire Wednesday. Officials said earlier one of the home's two owners could not be located.

The Dane County Medical Examiner has joined the investigation.

Davis says gas is a suspected factor in the explosion which scattered debris hundreds of feet away.
