A crossing guard was seriously injured Friday morning after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Milwaukee's north side.
It happened near 72nd and Carmen around 6:30 a.m. Police say a vehicle struck the 71-year-old MPD crossing guard. The driver fled from the scene, and the crossing guard suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
People who live in the area say drivers are reckless.
"72nd and 76th, it's like a racetrack. Carmen is like a racetrack," said one neighbor to TODAY'S TMJ4. "Cars never stop at the sign. They just keep going," he said.
MPD is searching for the car and the driver. The crossing guard has been employed with MPD for nine years.
