WAUKESHA -- More than 50 cats were rescued from a "hoarding situation" in the Town of Vernon on Monday.
The cats were brought to the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County (HAWS) where several are dealing with upper respiratory infections.
Officials believe this particular hoarding case started with a single mother cat and her first litter of kittens, who were never spayed or neutered.
While HAWS has almost 60 of the cats now, officials believe there were more in the house in the past.
If you would like to help, HAWS officials said they are accepting and cat supply donations as well as cash donations to assist with general care, medical care and spaying/neutering of the cats as they are prepared for eventual adoption.
