MILWAUKEE -- Consumer electronics and appliance retailer hhgregg is closing five of its Wisconsin locations, the company announced Monday.

Three Milwaukee-area and two Green Bay-area stores will be closing, along with a store in Vernon Hills, Illinois. In a statement, the retailer said the closings would allow for continued growth and profitability over the next few years.

200 hhgregg stores across the United State will remain open. TODAY'S TMJ4 is working to determine exactly which locations are affected.

Here's the full statement from hhgregg:

At hhgregg, we pride ourselves in being focused on serving our customers in the best possible way. As a natural course of business, we regularly evaluate our real estate positions to determine when and where new store openings, relocations, or at times closings make the most sense for our customers and our company.

That said, we are closing our stores in southeastern Wisconsin (3 stores in Milwaukee and 2 stores in Green Bay area) as well as the store in Vernon Hills, IL.  We will assist associates and managers in applying for other opportunities with hhgregg, and within their community.

These closings, along with the recent announcement of restructuring our distribution network, allow us to continue driving the company towards profitability and growth with our launch of 25-30 new Fine Lines specialty store openings over the next two years.

hhgregg will proceed with more than 200 stores operating regionally across the United States and we look forward to continuing to offer customers unmatched value and award-winning service at all of our other locations and on hhgregg.com.
