MILWAUKEE -- More than 21,000 We Energies customers lost power Wednesday as high winds swept through southeastern Wisconsin, according to the company's outage map.
As of 10:30 p.m., the total number of outages in southeastern Wisconsin numbered 3,922. The biggest outages at that time were in Milwaukee (2,476 outages) and Waukesha (592) Counties.
Downed trees caused many of the outages, and the power company warned on Twitter to stay away if you see one:
If you see a downed power line, stay 25+ feet away, keep others away, call 911 and us at 800-662-4797 to report it. pic.twitter.com/p06EjB2fUR
