A 16-year-old boy swimming with two friends at a Racine beach drowned in Lake Michigan Sunday.
Authorities received a 911 call of a possible drowning shortly after 5:30 p.m. near Michigan Blvd and Augusta Street.
According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was swimming with a male and female friend when he went under the water and never resurfaced.
The boy was located by the City of Racine Fire Department Dive Team at around 6:12 p.m., but life-saving measures proved unsuccessful.
The victim has been identified and his family notified, however, his name has not been released.
