PEWAUKEE -- A 12-year-old girl riding her bicycle suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a car Tuesday morning, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.
The girl was traveling northbound on Apple Tree Lane near Prospect Avenue when she went through a stop sign into the car's path, a witness says.
A 34-year-old Pewaukee woman driving the car, a Honda Civic, then struck the girl on Prospect.
The sheriff's department says she "sustained serious injuries," and was taken to Children's Hospital via Flight For Life. The accident remains under active investigation.
