Thousands of people will be on Milwaukee’s lakefront for the annual US Bank Fireworks show Tuesday night.

Tents started going up early Monday morning for the die-hards that visit every year for the show.

Don Schofield and his family have been coming to Veteran’s Park for more than 30 years. Schofield says it's a great time to spend with others.

“Family and friends that’s it. There’s two of us that are doing this. We’ve been doing it for 30 years, all of our families come down” said Schofield.

Juan Carlos Munoz has been coming with his family for eight years and although he came down Monday afternoon he still got a great spot right on the water. He says it’s a great time of togetherness.

"[I] hang out with my family, my kids my grandsons and hanging out with other people [it’s] a tradition,” said Munoz.

While Milwaukee County rules usually don’t allow for camping out overnight in county parks, officials say they generally look the other way for the lakefront tradition.

The fireworks are sponsored by US Bank and start at dusk on Tuesday.
